RESIDENTIAL SERVICE
Septic System Repairs, Modifications, Enhancements & Alterations
McGovern has been providing residential septic systems services since the 1970s. System evaluation and repair service is shown below. Prior to the repair which involves updating a failed 23 year old system, we did a system evaluation and ran percolation testing to determine a suitable location for a new drainage field. We then, based on perc test results, ran calculations to determine the size and placement of the new field and designed the sytem addition. The addition involved installing a new septic tank to bring the old system up to code with two sets of baffles, the new drainage field and a switch to allow gray water into the new or old field.
The new tank was delivered prior to McGovern service staff arriving to start system installation. The tank came in two parts. | The old septic tank was close to overflowing. It was pumped clean. |
Earth had to be moved to locate the end of the existing tank in order to start to dig the hole for the new tank installation. | The old septic tank is revealed and the hole opened. |
Now a hole can be excavated to the depth and dimensions required to install the new tank that will be connected in line to the old tank. | The hole is measure to depth and leveled in preparation for the tank installation. |
The bottom half of the new tank is lowered into place. | Sealing media is placed around the bottom. |
The top half of the new tank is lowered into place. | A pipe is then put in place connecting the new tank to the old tank. |
The connecting pipe is then cemented in place. | And the new tank is ready to be secured with backfill. |
The new tank is connected to a switch leading to the old and new drain fields. | A connection is made to the old drain field. |
The new drain field is measured and marked according to the approved design and plan. | The new drain field is dug to the depth required and leveled. |
Polypropelene Infiltration chambers are installed and locked together | They are connected into a distribution box that will be connected to the new septic tank by way of the switch. |
The box is leveled, tested and approved by the county inspector. | The box is cemented in place and the new drain field is back filled with soil. |
The distribution box is connected to the new septic tank. | The switch access is cemented in place. |
Distribution box access is set in place and the trench is backfilled. | The ground above the new tank and drainage field are then leveled. You can see the access holes for the old and new tank, the switch and the distribution box in the foreground. In the spring the ground will be dressed and seeded. |
